Kentucky Wesleyan College Announces New Scholarships

November 03, 2014

Kentucky Wesleyan College President Barton D. Darrell announces the availability of two new scholarships, the Kavanaugh Scholarship for United Methodist students and the Campus Ministries Leadership Scholarship, for students of any Christian denomination interested in a leadership role in campus ministries.  “The Wesleyan community treasures our faith-based heritage,” remarked President Darrell. “We believe a strong spiritual foundation is the compass for greatness, and we are excited that these scholarships will allow even more students to experience a Wesleyan education.”  Both scholarships will be available in the Fall 2015 semester.

The Kavanaugh Scholarship, named for the first Kentucky-born Methodist bishop in the commonwealth, is a renewable scholarship that provides ½ the cost of tuition to eligible students who are members of a United Methodist congregation.  Interested persons should contact Director of Financial Aid Samantha Hays at shays@kwc.edu or 270-852-3130. An online application is located at kwc.edu/scholarships.

The Campus Ministries Leadership Scholarship is a renewable scholarship available to eligible
faith-based students who have an interest in serving in a leadership role in campus ministries. Award amounts may vary. Interested persons should contact Chaplain Kent Lewis at klewis@kwc.edu or
270-903-1102.

Chaplain and Director of Church Relations Kent Lewis said, “Our Campus Ministries program is an active and vibrant facet of campus life. Scholarship recipients will experience ‘The Wesleyan Way’ while enhancing Campus Ministries and the campus community through their participation.”
