Annual Conference 2016 Mission Offering
May 04, 2016
The Mission Offering for 2016 Annual Conference will be given in celebration of the ministry of Bishop Lindsey and Jennifer Davis. The offering will support the ministries of Wesley Seminary in Venezuela and Honduras Outreach, Inc. Both of these ministries have been important to the Davises.
Wesley Seminary in Venezuela seeks to reach the lost in their country. The vision of the seminary is to provide an excellent, affordable and accessible Wesleyan theological education by providing a five year undergraduate degree seminary program in order to train Venezuelan nationals to be effective mission oriented pastors, and provide a 2.5 year Master Degree Program. The overarching goal is to train Venezuelan pastors to be effective mission ministers able to pastor a primary church and to plant additional congregations and social missions for the purpose of reaching the lost of Venezuela.
For the last five years, our Conference youth with Jennifer Davis have partnered with Honduras Outreach, Inc. (HOI) for a mission trip. This has created enduring relationships between HOI and the KY Annual Conference. HOI has been committed to education in Honduras for over two decades, first by providing scholarships for students to attend secondary schools and later through establishing our own elementary and middle schools. Through these schools, 268 students from over thirty villages are given the opportunity to receive a quality education.
Sunday, June 5, is the designated date for collection of this year’s offering. If that date is not convenient for your church, please collect the offering at a more conducive time. Each congregation is asked to send its offering to Annual Conference with the church’s lay member. Checks should be made payable to the Kentucky Conference Treasurer.
