June 11, 2017
Archives & History Seminar
Dr. John Hardin and Dr. Selena Sanderforer of Western Kentucky University gave a presentation on African Methodist Episcopal (AME) history, including background on Bishop Henry McNeil Turner and the Colonization movement.

Run for the Nets 5K to benefit the Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children and Youth
Our Run for the Children 5K was a great success, with Matt Wallace as the first place finisher with a time of 17:23. The event was sponsored by Kittawa Sprangs Dippin’ Sauce, HC3, Anthem BlueCross Blue Shield, Crestwood UMC, Broadway UMC, Centenary UMC, and Russell Springs UMC.

Proceeds from the 5K will go to the Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children and Youth, a KY United Methodist Conference agency which has been serving children with histories of abuse, neglect and/or family trauma for over 145 years. Their programs are both residential and community-based.

Young Adult Gathering- Clergy and Laity
KYUMC is excited to bring young professionals together for fellowship, support, and coffee! Sunday evening young clergy and laity got together at Christ UMC to share their passion, callings, and experiences. We’re excited to help our young ministers and laity minister and mentor each other in the context of the 21st century while being an integral part of the Kentucky Annual Conference.

Church Beyond
The Church Beyond/Afternoon of Service check-in started today as well. New this year is a workshop on MissionInsite by Tom Bandy.  MissionInsite is an analytical tool that will provide reliable strategic information on changing demographic patterns and analytic tools that demonstrate how that essential information impacts your overall congregational mission efforts. Imagine knowing how your congregation matches the community around it, and what is needed to make a meaningful difference. There will also be an Addiction Ministries Workshop as well as a Fresh Expressions Workshop, along with multiple outreach service projects in the Bowling Green community. Look for KY United Methodists making a difference and going “Beyond Church” on Tuesday, June 13th!
