Conference Youth and Young Adults Travel to Honduras
July 25, 2016
During the week of June 25-July 2, twenty people from the Kentucky Conference were on a mission trip in Honduras. The team was made up of people from across our conference and the Red Bird Missionary Conference. Working through the mission organization, HOI Inc., the team worked side-by-side with the Pech residents of El Carbon in the Agalta Valley of Honduras. The Pech are an indigenous people of Honduras for whom Spanish is their second language. Many of their homes were built with mud bricks and had dirt floors.
Working in collaboration with the people of the village, the team helped pour concrete floors, build latrines, pilas (like a water trough), eco-stoves, and room additions. We also led Vacation Bible School for approximately 90 Pech children. This year we added a physician and a dentist to our team who worked at the medical clinic at Ranch el Paraiso near San Esteban. Team members experienced transformation in their own lives as God worked through them to touch the lives of the people of Honduras.
A Youth and Young Adult mission team will return to Honduras in 2017 the week of June 24-July 1.
