Cuba Sends Thanks
November 10, 2016

In the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew many families in Cuba lost everything and were in great need of the basic supplies of every day living. Cathy Mejia of Mosaic UMC travelled to the island of Cuba with a group of women from the Ohio Conference to help with that need.
Cathy collected a suitcase worth of supplies from the staff of the Kentucky Annual Conference and collected money from her home congregation. The staff filled the suitcase with school supplies and personal hygiene items. Due to the destruction hurricane Matthew caused in Cuba, airlines were allowing each passenger to take additional luggage containing humanitarian aid for the families affected by the hurricane.
Bishop Ricardo Pereira, the spiritual leader of the Methodist Church of Cuba, sent letters to the congregation at Mosaic and to the conference staff expressing his love and appreciation for the generosity shown the people of Cuba.
