Local Ministry to Be Featured on National Television
November 04, 2016

The Table Café, a ministry of the United Methodist Church of the Promise, will receive national attention when Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri stops in for lunch. On his Food Network series, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives Chef Fieri takes a cross-country road trip to visit some of America’s classic eateries that have been doing it right for decades. And when it comes to doing it right, you need look no farther than The Table.
The Table is an innovative expression of church with a mission to serve locally grown food at an affordable price, where all can enjoy the flavor of community. Serving amazing food with great taste, radical hospitality, and building community are core values of the Table. “We embrace a pay-what-you-can model because we want everyone to have a seat at the Table,” says Kathie Stoess, hostess and volunteer coordinator.
The Table is a non-profit, social entrepreneurship that addresses food insecurity and food justice issues. John S. Howard, Executive Director of the Table says, “The Table Café is a place where our neighbors have the opportunity to experience love and hope.”
Host Fieri will highlight two of the many delicious dishes cooked up by Chef Laura Rountree. Featured dishes will be: the smoked chicken sandwich, topped with bacon jam, red onion, kale and buttermilk ranch on a cheddar jalapeno bun and the smoked pork sandwich, a community favorite.
The Table is open Monday – Friday from 11 am – 3 pm serving a lunchtime crowd.
On November 18th tune into Food Network and watch Diners, Drive-ins and Dives at 9 pm (ET).
Diners, Drive-ins and Dives focuses on small, independent eateries featuring traditional American-style, sometimes Canadian, cuisine (such as barbecue, smoked meat, hamburgers, deep-fried food, pizza, steak, and bacon-and-egg breakfast), regional styles, or ethnic specialties. Most often, the chosen restaurants use fresh ingredients, home-style recipes, and gourmet culinary approaches to what is usually not considered gourmet food.
