Refugee fund grants now available

April 03, 2020
A digital application form for churches to apply to grants for refugee communities is now available on the Kentucky Annual Conference and New Church Development websites.

The funds were collected in 2019, at Annual Conference in June as part of the Bishop’s Missional Offering. Two missional churches, Encounter Missions in Paintsville and Grace Kids in Louisville, also received funds from that offering. A total of about $73,600 was collected to be evenly divided among the two churches and the new refugee fund.

The fund will support communities that are emerging in cities like Lexington, Bowling Green, Louisville and other towns across the state. These “new Americans” in our communities are often escaping horrendous conditions and violence from their previous homes.

Several churches have begun vital ministry to some of these communities around the Annual Conference. The refugee fund’s approximately $24,000 share can be used to help serve those communities.

An application of up to $5,000 can be made at any time, but no more than one every 12 months. We will let you know within a month whether you will receive funding.
