South East KY District Names Collection Locations for West VA Flood Relief

July 06, 2016

West Virginians need our help after their recent, disastrous flooding.

1) Cleanup buckets are already being sent from Kentucky to help them out, and we now need to replenish our supply in our warehouse.  Cleanup buckets consist of supplies people need to begin the overwhelming job of cleaning up after a flood, such as household cleaner, a scrub brush, and sponges.  A full list of all the supplies and directions on how to put together cleanup buckets can be found at .

We will have three collection points.

+ Liberty UMC, 108 Hustonville Street, call to verify available times or leave the buckets by the back door/car port (661-706-2774)
+ London First UMC, 301 W. 5th Street, 8:00-noon, Monday-Friday, 8:00-noon, or call the office for an appointment (606-864-5226)

+Grace on the Hill, 1632 Cumberland Falls Hwy, Corbin, 9:00-5:00, Monday-Friday, except July 4, when the church building will be closed

+ Somerset First UMC, 99 S Central Ave, 8:30-4:30, Monday-Friday
2) You can also help by giving to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), using Advance Special number 901670 (West Virginia Disaster).  100% of the funds will go to this disaster response.  There’s no overhead.
3) In the coming weeks, we are planning to put together a VIM (Volunteers in Mission) team to go and assist with relief efforts after the emergency and early phases are over.  We do not yet have dates for this trip.  We will make that decision based on the availability of those interested in going.  If you are interested, please contact either Eric Hughes or David Miller at the contact info below.

4) If your church wants to put together its own team to go sooner than this, please coordinate with the West Virginia Commission on National and Community Service.
