The 2019 Lighthouse Academy at Newburg Health and Back to School Fair was held Saturday, August 3, and by all measures the fair was a rousing success. The fair served families and children from throughout the Louisville area.

The Lighthouse was able to provide vision screenings, dental checks and back to school physicals in addition to the backpacks and school supplies that were passed out.

All items and services were totally free.

Here is a look at the day by the numbers.

1434 adults and children registered

1080 Free backpacks with school supplies

800 Free lunches from JCPS Bus Cafe

600 Pure Tap Water Bottles from Louisville Water Company

100 back to school and sports physicals from volunteer doctors and nurse practitioners and Galen School of Nursing students

90 Vision screenings from South Oldham Lions Club

86 total volunteers to help out from Lighthouse staff, board, partnering churches and JCPS volunteers, and volunteer interpreters

40 Dental Checks by Kare Mobile Dental Inc.

Thanks to our many volunteers we had a great day serving and helping families and students getting ready for the 2019-2020 school year!
