Will you pray with us?

March 10, 2020
The Kentucky Conference General and Jurisdictional delegation prayer team has designated 9 Eastern/8  Central each evening for prayer, and we ask all that can to join us. Whether you can join us in prayer one night or every night, we welcome your participation.

A simple prayer or scripture as a prayer focus is how we pray each evening. We appreciate your desire to join us in praying for unity for the more than 800 delegates from around the world. We desire that God’s will be done here on Earth as it is done in heaven. May our Kentucky delegates be humble servants and represent our Kentucky Annual Conference with His grace and love toward all who will be in Minneapolis for General Conference.

Our theme scripture is Psalm 133: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head. . . . For there the LORD commanded the blessing, life forever.” This verse speaks of how the Holy Spirit can bring life and unity to our gathering in May.

We know that there will be many decisions with many individuals who have different opinions, so Colossians 4: 5-6 speaks to how we should act: “Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned, as it were, with salt, so that you may know how you should respond to each person.

The way to turn this into a prayer is to personalize it: LORD, may our delegates conduct themselves with wisdom toward all who attend General Conference, making the most of every opportunity to represent You, Lord. May their speech always be with grace, seasoned, as it were, with salt, so that they may know how they should respond to each person.

Here are two prayers that we have been praying:

Dear God Almighty,
We declare Your loving kindness and Your faithfulness to see us through this year (Psalm 92:1-2) We ask for Your 20/20 vision for our churches, our Kentucky Annual Conference, and our United Methodist denomination. We ask for wisdom for each delegate attending General Conference. We pray Your Holy Spirit's presence down upon this assembly in Minnesota. Thank you, Jesus, that Your Holy Spirit's fruit will be evident as decisions are made and our future is determined. May Your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven! In Jesus’ name we pray. Hallelujah, Amen.
Dear Father,
In the Name of Jesus, we come once again humbly and boldly to the Throne of Grace to praise You and magnify Your Holy Name. You are the Savior, Healer, Comforter and the Head of the Church. We place all delegates from around the world and the upcoming General Conference into Your Hands. We need Your guidance and help. Come Holy Spirit, Come. Please hear this humble prayer, precious Lord.
In Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen
