Aleene Ray Salmon Miller
Aleene Ray Salmon Miller, 84, of Versailles, Kentucky, wife of Rev. W. Maynard Miller, died Oct. 28, 2019.
She was a devoted and active disciple of Christ. Gifted as a vocalist, pianist and accordionist, she grew up as part of the Salmon Family Singers, an outstanding musical ensemble that performed at evangelistic crusades and other special occasions.
By training she had masterful clerical skills, serving as secretary successively at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary; Methodist-Evangelical Hospital, Louisville, as secretary to the chaplain; Methodist Children’s Home, Versailles; Fayette County Health Department; and 20 years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lexington, as Administrative Officer of the nuclear medicine laboratory.
For 30 years she served alongside her husband in the Volunteers in Mission ministry, which involved construction of churches and related facilities, evangelism, medicine and education in Central American and Caribbean locations of Methodist ministry. Rev. Miller retired in 2002.
All of her life Aleene Miller was involved vocally and instrumentally in the music programs in the churches of which she was a part.
Her service continued long into retirement, during which she volunteered at the Hope Ministries Clothing Bank collecting and distributing clothing to those in need in Woodford County.
She was a devoted wife of 65 years, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who delighted in everything involving her family, to whom, and to all others, her loving heart and Christian character were exemplary.
Thanks to her sustained energy and dedication, she moved the cause of Christ measurably forward toward its ultimate fulfillment.
