Margaret Overmyer Shepherd

Margaret Overmyer Shepherd, 97, died February 1, 2021 in Louisville, KY. after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Paul Shepherd, Sr.; sons, John Paul Shepherd, Jr. and David Robert Shepherd; daughter-in-law, Nancy Shepherd (David); brothers, William Harwood Overmyer and Robert Ray Overmyer.

Margaret was born in Lindsey, Ohio to the late Ray and Margaret (Stone) Overmyer. She earned a BA at Asbury College, Wilmore, Ky and earned a Masters from Western Kentucky University. She was known for her elegance, her fine cooking, her beautiful flowers, her keen intellect and her kindness.During the 70's, she taught literature and composition at Indiana University Southeast. She and Dr. Shepherd served many churches through the years including St. Paul United Methodist Church in Louisville.

She is survived by: daughter, Cathy Shepherd; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Ramsey Shepherd (John); grandchildren, Kristen Shepherd, Chuck Shepherd (Katie), Kelley Ledford (Chris); sister, Mary Moon Davis; and much-loved nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful to the Nazareth Home-Newburg nursing staff and to her physical therapist, Kasey Boswell, who showed care far beyond duty. Thanks also to friends who visited, brought books and brightened her days.
