Rev. David Allen Westerfield

Rev. David Allen Westerfield, 81, Louisville, KY, died Tuesday, September 28, 2021. He was a 1958 graduate of Hartford High School, Hartford, KY; Kentucky Wesleyan College, Owensboro, KY, class of 1962, and recipient of a Master of Divinity degree from The Methodist Theological School, Delaware, OH, in 1965. David served Methodist/United Methodist congregations in the former Louisville and present Kentucky Conferences for forty years before retiring in June, 2003.

David was preceeded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret Allen Westerfield of Hartford, KY. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Jeanette Litsey Westerfield, Louisville, KY; son, Paul Russell Westerfield (Susan), Louisville, KY; and daughter, Mary Margaret Westerfield Sparrow (Todd), Lawrenceburg, KY. David was also the proud Pappaw/Grandad to three grandchildren: Megan Kay Sparrow, Lawrenceburg, KY; Douglas Frederick Forbes Westerfield, Louisville, KY; and Sean David Sparrow, Louisville, KY.

David is survived by his five younger brothers: Dr. Jerry Duke Westerfield, Russell Springs, KY; Dr. Larry Haynes Westerfield, Johnson City, TN; Oscar Frederick Westerfield (Cheryl), Tampa, FL; Stephen Joseph Westerfield (Jan), Owensboro, KY; and Dr. Byron Thomas Westerfield (Debbie), Nonesuch, KY. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Marqueta Litsey DeJarnette, Louisville, KY, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Owen Funeral Home, Jeffersontown, KY. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. (EDT) Sunday, October 3, 2021. The Celebration of Life Service will be at Hartford United Methodist Church, Hartford, KY at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) Monday, October 4, 2021. Visitation at the church will be Monday from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. (CDT). Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Hartford, KY following the service.
