The Rev. Dr. William B. “Bill” Taylor, 78, of Hopkinsville, died Thursday, February 11, 2021.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, with visitation to begin at 11 a.m. until the funeral service hour. Rev. Chuck Ladd, Reverend Steve Neel, and Rev. Ron Henn will officiate, with burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

Born December 21, 1942, in the Julien community of Christian County, he was the son of the late Rev. Bartley Taylor and the late Helen Dean Calhoun Taylor. He graduated from Trigg County High School in 1960 and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during Vietnam, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Signalman 3rd Class. In 1965, he enrolled in Bible college. He was ordained in May 1966 and began his journey of ministry at Bethany Baptist Church in Graves County. He enrolled in Campbellsville College where he earned his B.S. degree, and later at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., where he received his M.Div. and D.Min. degrees. After serving as a Southern Baptist minister for 35 years, in 2004 he was ordained as a Full Elder at the Kentucky Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, and continued his journey of service and ministry in various Methodist churches for an additional 15 years until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William B. Taylor, Jr.; daughters, Catherine Danielle Taylor, and Tammy Dean Lindy; and sister, Betty Lancaster.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Jones Dossett Taylor of Hopkinsville; daughter, Renee (Jim) Davis of Roxboro, North Carolina; son, John W. (Amanda) Dossett of Hopkinsville; sister, NaDean Boaz of Madisonville; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
