Virginia Louise Kays Chamberlin

Date of Death: June 03, 2018

Virginia Louise Kays Chamberlin, 88, wife of Rev. Richard Chamberlin, passed away June 3, 2018, at her home in Lancaster, Kentucky.
She was born Dec 12, 1929, in Mercer County to the late John Wesley and Lida Moore Kays.  She graduated from Lafayette High School and Asbury College.

Virginia met Richard Chamberlin while they were attending Asbury College, where he was training to be a minister.  They married Aug. 28, 1954, at Epworth UMC in Lexington, Kentucky.  Virginia went on to become a librarian at Asbury College and Anderson County High School.
During 40 years of ministry, Virginia and Richard served many congregations throughout Kentucky: Chaplin/Green’s Chapel, Bloomfield, Eminence, St. Luke of Covington, Catlettsburg First, Carlisle, Campton/Hazel Green, Barbourville, Lancaster, and St. Paul of Frankfort, from where they retired in 1994. Virginia supported her husband for many years as the epitome of a minister’s wife.  She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the church choir. They moved back to Lancaster after retirement.

Virginia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 3, 2018, which also happened to be Richard’s 90th birthday. His party went on as planned, and as family members celebrated Richard’s Earthly birthday, they also celebrated Virginia’s heavenly birthday!

She is missed by her loving husband and their five children, Anne Lewis, Carol (Clark) Siler, Laura (Randall) Williams, John (Susan) Chamberlin, and Philip (Danna) Chamberlin; her brother, John (Audra) Kays; eight grandchildren Jessica (Jeff) Caicedo, Randi (Matt) McQueary, Brian Lewis, David (Kayla) Williams, Shelby, Jacob and Luke Chamberlin, and Adam Chamberlin; and five great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Trinity Caicedo, Spencer and Lincoln McQueary, and Walker Williams.
