As Hurricane Sandy bore down on millions of people, The United Methodist Church helped them prepare, respond, and cope with their fear.
The storm left millions without power and facing enormous property damage and loss. Even worse, many are grieving the dozens of lives lost because of the hurricane. In the face of this sorrow, The United Methodist Church offers a light of hope.
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has already supplied $50,000 in emergency response grants, and Early Response Teams are mobilizing for cleanup. As with all natural disasters, the recovery will be a long-term process. Through UMCOR, we are all part of this disaster response effort.
Please help now and in years to come. Donate to UMCOR US Disaster Response, Hurricanes 2012, Advance #3021787. Please make checks payable to your local church, and indicate the Advance # on the memo line of your check. Local churches are asked to mail checks marked Advance #3021787 to: Kentucky Conference Treasurer, 7400 Floydsburg Road, Crestwood, KY 40014. You can also text the word RESPONSE to 80888 to give an immediate $10 donation. Go to www.umcor.org to donate and get updates on response work.
